EA Canada Conference Postponement
Dear Friends of EA & Conference Participants,
The Conference Planning Committee met again to discuss the status of the Inaugural EA Canada Conference, scheduled for May 8-10, 2020.
In light of the changing situation in Canada and worldwide, we have made the decision to postpone the conference. Several considerations led to this decision, including the fact that Canada is restricting its borders and British Columbia has banned events with more than 50 people. Given these restrictions and the call of our governments to reduce social contact at this point, we simply did not see the possibility of holding our conference this year. We are, of course, deeply saddened that our conference cannot go ahead this year as planned. Like you, we were very much looking forward to this opportunity for gathering the EA community in Canada and beyond.
In the midst of all of this, however, there is a ray of hope. We are very pleased to be able to announce that the new conference dates for the Inaugural EA Canada Conference are now May 14-15, 2021. We have decided to retain this year’s theme – Becoming a Community of Practice, and are pleased to be able to announce that Dr. Alfried Längle will be joining us as well. We hope to be able to have the conference take place again on the Langley campus of Trinity Western University.
With respect to registration for the 2020 conference, we are pleased to offer you two options. For those who have already registered, your registration is automatically retained for the 2021 conference. For anyone who chooses to withdraw their registration at this time, we are happy to refund you the fees (minus anything that we are charged by Eventbrite – we are hoping that they are willing to waive their customary fees). Of course, we look forward to gathering together with you and hope that you will choose to keep your registration for our postponed event.
If you were a presenter for the 2020 conference, we are happy to move your presentation to the new conference date. Please confirm your decision to us via email. We also plan to re-issue a new call for presentations later this year.
I hope that you can understand the decision of the committee to postpone the 2020 conference. We sorrow with you about the necessity for the announcement, but look forward to welcoming you to the Inaugural Conference for the EA Society of Canada in 2021.
Should you have any question about this announcement or to respond to questions about registration and/or presentation, please contact us at communications@existentialanalysis.ca.
Best wishes,
Derrick Klaassen, Ph.D., R. Psych.
Conference Chair
